The Bum’s Rush #24
Some of the Best Artists You Might Never Have Heard
About
My absolute favorite thing about the
Internet is discovering new artists whose work I’ve never
seen before. That’s how I found
Corey Lewis after all, just to name one. Well
Livejournal,
where I spend a significant amount of time has turned out to
be a veritable cornucopia of amazingly talented young
artists. So I decided to compile a little list of some of
my absolute favorite new artists whom I’ve discovered thanks
to Livejournal and buddies like Stumblebum’s own
Dave
Sherrill.
Several of the people on this list are
part of the
Daily Grind Iron Man Challenge,
“a competition between online
comic artists to see who can maintain the longest Monday to
Friday update schedule, following a strict set of rules.”
Which means daily comics from a ton of really talented
people!
Here we go -
Gah! I wish I could include everyone I
wanted to on this list. But if I had it would have gone on
for pages and pages and being late as it is already … But
just check out the incredible work by these guys, then check
out their “Friends” pages and you’re bound to find even more
great stuff!
Quick Bits
- In
the cataclysmic conclusion to DC’s Infinite Crisis
lead-in mini-series Day of Vengeance a number of
magical artifacts were unleashed upon an unsuspecting
world. One of the most prominently noted artifacts was
a mystical scarab belonging to the Silver Age Blue
Beetle, Dan Garrett. Since the current Blue Beetle, Ted
Kord, is pushing up daisies I think it’s safe to say
that a brand new Beetle book is on the horizon.
- Saw
Serenity over the weekend. It’s one of the best
sci-fi movies I’ve seen in years and years! Go out and
see it now!
- Smallville
premiere was indeed awesome! Of course so was the
Season 4 premiere. We’ll see. Go ahead and guess whom
this season’s villain is. Go on, guess. I’ll give you
a hint. Rhymes with God.
- Robert Kirkman is going to be the new writer on
Ultimate X-Men? When did that happen? Interesting.
- Oh,
oh, oh! Wanna see a preview of All-Star Superman #1?
Sure you do! Go
here!
- Artist Pete Woods (currently working on
Catwoman)
just signed a three-year exclusive with DC Comics.
Surprised the heck out of me, I was almost positive he
would sign with Marvel. I don’t care, as long as he
keeps drawing pretty comics.
- Return of the DC Comics’ Multiverse? Seems to be
something that might come about as a result of Infinite Crisis.
- After
reading the conclusions to The OMAC Project, Day of Vengeance and
JLA #119 you would not
believe how incredibly psyched I am about Infinite
Crisis. Neeeeerrrrrd!
