This week in my world…

Well, with about five weeks off from this little article, it is good to be back in familiar surroundings. While being away from home was fun, there is something to say about being able to relax in familiar surroundings without someone knocking on your door looking to change the sheets or trying to find “that bastard that hit on my wife”. Ahh.. home sweet home.

While my mind was mostly away from my article while having the pleasure of taking over the duties of some of the other contributors, I did take some time to plan out a new year here at the homestead. So, this being my first week back in 2007, I thought I’d take you on a tour of the place and give you a little taste of some of the things we’ll see over the next year.

Movie season: As each new movie season approaches, we are going to wade through the hype and the buzz and try to figure out what movies will be worth your time and money.

Television: Each year each television company tries to convince you that they will have the next great series. As each season rolls around (cable and broadcast) we are going to take a look at what shows may be TiVo worthy and which will probably disappear after a few weeks.

Best of a genre: Every so often we are going to take a look at different genres of film and try to pick out some of the must see films in each.

Oh, that’s who that is…: We all have actors that we recognize and enjoy from different films but really can’t pick them. These guys are normally referred to as character actors and spend their careers trying not to be too noticeable. Occasionally we are going to take a look at these actors, their film careers and look at some of their films that are really worth watching.

He made that one?: Unless the director is Steven Spielberg or James Cameron, they tend to get buried beneath the big name actors they work with. We will take a look at some of my favorite directors and some of their films.

Lists, lists, lists…: This year will be full of whatever I can come up with to count backwards about. Fun stuff.

These are just a few ideas I have been working on and I am sure as the old noodle gets to working again I will have more articles that are both entertaining and hopefully a little informative.
