Greywalker

by Kat Richardson

Have a seat and hold on for one great ride. Kat Richardson has created a non-stop supernatural adventure. I believe Charlaine Harris has it right; this novel is "nonstop action with an intriguing premise, a great heroine, and enough paranormal complications to keep you on the edge of your seat." Keep an eye out for your safety and hold on tight.
Meet Harper Blaine, Private Investigator who died after a savage attack by a two-bit perp, for approximately two minutes. Once back from the dead she starts to see things that can't possibly be there. Harper is able to see the paranormal realm, the Grey. It looks basically as it sounds, grey. Those who are ghosts, vampires, necromancers, etc…are found in this supernatural realm. Now the more Harper believes the more solid things look to her. That would explain why she ends up taking a job from a ghost.

This story starts off with Harper trying to find a missing person, named Cameron, for his richy mom, Ms. Shadley. After questioning many people and a few lucky breaks she finds Cameron, now turned into a vampire. Along with the missing person case Harper is also looking for a very old parlor organ that is more that what it seems.

Throughout the two cases Harper goes to the Danzigers, at her doctor's insistence. They are a real witch and a paranormal professor, for answers about the Grey and how to control it. With the help of Cameron, the Danzingers, an antique dealer named Will, and the local Vampire clan; the parlor organ is found sitting on a Grey power nexus feeding off it like a battery charger to the point of becoming a very powerful energy bomb. From the help of both "good" and "evil" they try to dismantle this energy-filled organ. But the question remains, are they able to dismantle the organ safely and send its' disgruntle spirit away to its afterlife or do they set it loose and destroy the Grey and all it contains? Does everyone survive the battle or is it a lost cause?

This novel is a great ride from start to finish. The twists and turns were done expertly and carefully. Kat Richardson wrote this story wonderfully with great characterization of both primary and secondary characters that are hard to find in most novels today. Just be patient for a sequel of Harper Blaine, Private Investigator. I know it's somewhere on the rise.
