Soul
Stealer
by Martin Booth
Welcome to another adventure of Pip, Tim, and Sebastian. In
this book Soul Stealer, the trio of warriors battle against
one of the worst evils out there, middle school teachers.
After the great battle over the summer, related in Doctor Illuminatus, the trio's new rivals are a man by the name of
Mr. Yoland and his servant Scrotton. Yoland is their
chemistry teacher and a sinister magician that has been leap
frogging through time by the power of reincarnation.
In this story, the eyes are absolutely the windows to the
soul, and one should be careful not to lose themselves in
Yoland's eyes allowing him to steal theirs. With the help of
a certain book full of ancient spells will Yoland be able to
steal the souls of millions or, will the trio be able to
stop him from completing his evil dead? For those who've
read Doctor Illuminatus, de Loudeac is back and in league
with Yoland. What happens during the battle of good vs.
evil? Who wins?
Again, Martin Booth has done a marvelous job with a grand
adventure full of intrigue, research, and history. There
isn't that much historical fiction out right now that is
written for teens and young readers. The "Alchemist Son"
series will get kids hooked on history and just learning in
general.
Booth's details truly help bring the story to life but his
characterization needs a little help. I'm glad to see that
the author has used the parents more but the father could
still use some work. One thing Martin Booth does do very
well is his villains, the way they are represented and shown
throughout the story is what makes the "Alchemist's Son"
series something everyone should read. Go and pick up this
novel next chance you get and wait with bated breath for
book three.
