Blade #1
Written by: Marc Guggenheim
Drawn by: Howard Chaykin
Colored by: Edgar Delgado
Lettered by: VC’s Russ Wooten
Plot: Blade finds himself fighting off a vampiric
Spiderman, having to deal with Dracula, room full of vampire
children, and a budding conspiracy. All of this is
interspersed with Blade’s origin story.
Review: There is just too much crammed into the first
issue of this book. An origin story, fighting, and a
conspiracy all rotating around each other made it a little
difficult to keep up. I did enjoy Howard Chaykin’s art but
unless Marc Guggenheim calms down and paces this story it
really isn’t going to matter. Do you really want to have to
keep a mental roadmap to figure out what is going on and
why. The writer just needs to chill out, relax a little and
let the story tell itself.
Special thanks go out to Jeremy Shorr, owner of Titan Comics for allowing us to use his advance preview books for review purposes.
