Silver Surfer #1
Insatiable Part 5 (of 5)
Writer: Jay Faerber
Pencils-Carlos Magno
Inks-Al Vey
Letters-VC’s Randy Gentile
Plot: The Gladiator has been given the power of the Uni-power and is trying to stop a deadly tsunami that is headed straight for LA. On his way to Earth, his ship is hijacked by an alien race that sucks the power source out of its captors. The leader of this race takes control of the Uni-power and threatens to use it to destroy whatever he can. Silver Surfer must intervene in order to get the power back into the hands of the people that need it most in order to save LA from a terrible disaster.
Review: This is the final issue of a series with Captain Universe. The art is tight and goes a very long way to telling the story, but the entire issue seems rushed and forced into a tiny little package. There is a lot going on that would have been better told spread out over two or three more issues but I can’t help but feel the reason that it wasn’t expanded because it feels thrown together and really has no bearing on anything whatsoever. For a series ending issue it feels like a monster of the week issue, not an ending to anything important at all.
Special thanks go out to Jeremy Shorr, owner of Titan Comics for allowing us to use his advance preview books for review purposes.
