The
House of M has come to an end, but now the world is feeling
the consequences. Thanks to the Scarlet Witch the mutant
population on earth has been reduced from millions to a few
hundred. What will the survivors do and what will become of
those who’ve lost their powers?
I wasn’t that interested in House of M (it took 8 issues to
get that done huh?) and I’m even less interested in this
hastily assembled afterthought of a book. Okay, maybe it
wasn’t hastily assembled … but it certainly looks like it
was. The art is atrocious, to the point of distracting. Not
that the story was really worth reading or anything. It’s
the exact same old story with a somewhat interesting, but
poorly executed, twist.
Mutants are hated and feared by the big bad, bigoted humans
(where are all the people who aren’t
racists?) who are trying their hardest to kill or contain
all the “muties”. Only this time IT’S FOR REAL! Ho-hum, I
think I’ve read this comic before … like a million times! So
the twist is that almost all the mutants in the world have
lost their powers. Millions of them! Oh man, does that mean
that Wolverine…? Nope. Well how about Cyclo…? Nope. Well at
least the Beast righ…? Not a chance. Oh, okay. So “No more
mutants” actually means “No more mutants … except the ones
that are real popular and all.” Wow. So who cares? No more
mutants? Not for me.
Special thanks go out to Jeremy Shorr, owner of Titan Comics for allowing us to use his advance preview books for review purposes.
