Defenders #2 (of 5)
Writers: Keith Giffen and J.M. DeMatteis
Artist: Kevin Maguire
Plot:
Doctor Strange finds out that archenemies Dormammu and
Umar have joined forces to take over the universe. He
enlists the help of the Hulk and Prince Namor to help save
the day, with tragic results.
Review: I read the first Defenders to get myself up
to speed and I must say they are both really good. The
Defenders is a satire of your typical super hero comic. The
three heroes are more or less bumbling their way into what
is basically the battle for the end of the Universe, but
can’t seem to get it together long enough to stop screwing
up. Luckily, their villains aren’t exactly at the top of
their game either. I suggest picking this up just for the
pure fun of watching the writer and artists riff on
superhero comics. Definitely worth checking out.
