Desolation
Jones
Made in England 3 of 6
Writer: Warren Ellis
Artist: J.H. Williams III
(For mature readers)
Plot: Mr. Jones is a washout MI6 agent that
“volunteers” from a top-secret project called Desolation.
After leaving the project, he becomes a private
investigator, specializing in ex CIA operatives in the LA
area. Mr. Jones takes a case involving a priceless piece of
historical pornography that ha been stolen from it’s owner.
Review: This is my favorite type of comic book.
Wordy, gritty, the kind of mainstream comic without
superheroes and more about the characters you run into in
any given issue. Desolation Jones reminds me of
Transmetropolitan (without the humor) with a dash of the
movie 8mm. Nothing is happy, the book just gets seedier and
seedier, and the main character has more history than you
will get out of a dozen superhero comics, and you know it is
all pretty unhappy. If you liked Transmetro, or maybe even
Preacher, I suggest you pick this up. But pick it up from
the first issue. This is the kind of book you are gonna want
to get every little piece of.
