Invincible
#31
Writer: Robert Kirkman
Penciler: Ryan Ottley
Inker: Cliff Rathburn
Colorist: Bill Crabtree
Letterer: Rus Wooten
Plot: Mark Grayson has brought home a new child that
his mother is taking care of for him and he makes plans to
take his girlfriend to Africa to visit an old friend that is
still smitten with him. While all this is happening, nemesis
D.A. Sinclair is working on a new batch of re-animen and an
alien creature is tying to elicit the help of a few
supervillains to help him transport his mind into a viable
human body.
Review: Invincible is a pretty fun and fairly unique
concept in comic books. Take a group of generic superheroes
(and I use the word generic not as a derogatory slam but
because all of the characters seem to be just out of
copyright infringement of quite a few marvel and DC
characters) and show their real life, with a little action
mixed in. A large portion of this book is exposition and you
can tell that the writer really wants to take the time to
develop people, not just throwaway action stars. I really
enjoyed reading it and I suggest you pick it up. I think
after a few issues it’ll be pretty easy to fall right into
the storyline and you won’t have to hunt down a bunch of
back issues to familiarize yourself with everyone.
