Iron
Man #11
Writer: Daniel Knauf
Writer: Charles Knauf

Plot: The long awaited Execute Program storyline
nears its conclusion as Tony Stark struggles to prove his
innocence. The Iron Man armor has been killing political

The Sentry coming after him at the order of Nick Fury, Tony
has more to deal with than the mystery of the Iron Man
murders.
Review: This comic book is awesome. I just want to
get that out of the way right now. It’s really, really good.
The current storyline has really elevated Tony Stark and
made him a character that is a joy to read about. However, I
really can’t let the insane delays on this book go without
mentioning. This storyline features Nick Fury, who has been
missing from Marvel comics for at least a year now. The
storyline also has nothing to do with Civil War. The reasons
for these continuity issues is due to the unbelievable
delays this book has seen in recent years. Adi Granov, an
amazing artist who really captures the wonderful feel of
Iron Man, apparently wasn’t able to do many more than four
issues a year of a monthly comic book. Why Marvel hired him
on to do a monthly book is beyond me and why they left him
on the title even after it was apparent he couldn’t even
come close to hitting deadlines is unfathomable to me. So
here we are, about three years after the relaunch of Iron
Man, on issue 11.
However, I’m not reviewing past issues of Iron Man, I’m
reviewing this issue of Iron Man. This story has been
awesome. It’s given us a great look at Tony Stark and the
things that make him great and the demons that sometimes
make him less than great. He can be heroic and brilliant on
one page and belligerent and smug on the next. The story
itself has been a good break from the usual superhero “me
punch villain” storyline. There’s been a good amount of
mystery to it and conspiracy and it’s a lot of fun to see it
coming to a climax.
Iron Man is another one of those characters that, while I
liked, I never thought I would really read his solo comic
book. Even with the extreme delays it’s had, the relaunch
has been incredible. It’s been a great new look at Iron Man
and they’ve been telling great stories with the character of
Tony Stark. If you’ve been burned by the predictable and low
quality Iron Man comics of the past, this may be a good book
for you to pick up and remember just how cool Iron Man can
be.
