Manhunter
#20
Writer: Marc Andreyko
Layouts: Javier Pena
Finishes: Fernando Blanco
Letterer: Phil Balsam
Plot: While doing her daily routine of fighting crime, she
has to balance a son, a day job and anything else that may
come up. Set one year after the conclusion of Infinite
Crisis, Manhunter is just coming into her own having donned
the superhero garb for the last two years. In her day job as
a defense attorney, her past comes back to haunt her as she
is asked to defend Dr. Psycho.
Review: I like comics books that pull back the superhero
element and give you a little taste of the rest of their
life. In Manhunter, you get equal parts action and
crime-fighting and equal parts single mother and defense
attorney. The balance plays well, and Marc Andreyko writes
everything with a little tongue in cheek adult humor that
makes this issue a fast and chuckle-filled read.
Special thanks go out to Jeremy Shorr, owner of
Titan Comics for allowing us to use his advance
preview books for review purposes.
