Holiday Special
Writers: Andrew Farago, Shaenon K. Garrity, Scott Gray, Mike
Carey

Colors: A. Street, J. Brown, A. Crossley

Plot: Marvel’s Holiday Special are two stories
interlaced with a third involving a seemingly (at first)
innocent Christmas party. The first full story is of Fin
Fang Foom and his battle against Hydra and a killer Santa
Clause robot. The second is a sort of “Night Before
Christmas’ poem about the clumsy antics of Ben Grimm as told
by “The Watcher”. The office party that holds both stories
together gets stranger and stranger until an unexpected
guests breaks everything up.
Review: Marvel’s Holiday Special is a hoot. While the
stories themselves aren’t really anything special, the
manner in which they are told and the little “in” references
sprinkled throughout will give most Marvel fans a giggle. It
is light hearted and pokes fun at heroes and villains that
normally are taken pretty seriously. The creators of this
book added a special “Marvel Icons” section that gives you a
special look at Jolly Old Saint Nick, complete with power
stats along with a look at past Holiday Special covers. This
issue only comes around once a year so why not spend the
3.99 for a good chuckle.
