Mega
Morphs #1 (of 4)
Writer: Sean McKeever
Art: Lou Kang
Plot:
In this comic that ties into the Toy Biz Mega Morphs toy
line, Tony Stark invents powerful high-tech transforming
robots piloted by Marvel superheroes Captain America,
Spiderman, Wolverine and even … Ghost Rider and The Hulk?!
Comments:
Mega Morphs were originally a toy line from Toy Biz that
from what I can gather are large metal machines that get
their power from their corresponding Marvel characters and
can each transform into an animal or vehicle, each with an
origin story on the back of the package.
The Mega Morphs comic is a 4 issue mini series extension of
these origin stories. The Hulk is bitten by a mechanical
mosquito, becomes enraged and steals his Mega Morphs vehicle
out of Tony Stark’s lab, to break Dr. Octopus out of jail.
Other Marvel heroes have to use their Mega Morphs to stop
him, with a surprise twist at the end.
Other than seeing different Marvel characters fighting each
other, this book seemed like a blatant attempt to push a toy
line. The story was not very interesting, the dialogue was
dull and a little hokey, and the art was nothing to write
home about at all. All and all, unless you are interested in
the toy line, you may just want to skip this series.
I would recommend this book based solely on the
artwork if I wasn’t equally impressed with the story.
