Sgt.
Rock: The Prophecy #1 (of 6)
Story and Art: Joe Kubert
Colors: Joe Kubert and
Pete Carlsson
Plot: Sgt. Rock and his crew of Easy Company are dropped into the no-man’s land between the Russian/German front. With the help of their Russian contact they are asked to bring back an important package. Stuck in the middle of two different armies’ war, they have to watch out for enemies on both sides, and a handler that they aren’t too sure about.
Review: Joe Kubert is back on his signature comic book five
decades after putting together the first issue. The first
issue of this 6 issue mini is intriguing, with plenty of
action, and from the first page to the last you feel you are
in the hands of a man that knows and enjoys what it is to be
Sgt. Rock. It is peppered with humor that shows the
familiarity and closeness of the group and the sketchy
artwork really helps to amplify the anonymity of the hell
hole Easy Company has been dropped into while at the same
time drawing you in with a tight drawing style during the
action sequences that seems to pop out at you. If you are a
fan of Joe Kubert, or just like a good old fashioned war
story, you should definitely check this book out.
