Comments:
This issue is chock full of good stuff, so much that I don’t
really want to spoil it for you. But if the last page of
issue #32 and the cover to this one is any indication, you
can kind of figure out at least one thing that happens.
We also find out why that submarine is trailing The Whale.
This is part of the big reveal at the end, which
disappointed me because I didn’t want the character it
involves to turn out to be a big psycho like many of the
other people the crew have come across on their journey. But
hey, it’s early in the game yet, and BKV has the talent to
pull a fast one on everybody.
Consistency is the key to any good comic book. BKV’s
dialogue, to me, is always the best part of the book. It’s
easy to imagine real people speaking these lines, which is a
credit to the man behind the writing.
Goran
Sudzuka’s art compliments the book well, as usual. The cover
painting by Massimo Carnevale is another great one in the
long line of his previous work.
If I did reviews of this book every month (who knows, I may
end up doing that), they would pretty much be the same:
“Fantastic dialogue, great story, excellent art. The end.”
That’s just how consistent it is.
I will go on and say that if you’re not reading this book,
then you’re doing yourself a great injustice. People
everywhere don’t rave about this thing for nothing. Go pick
up the first couple of trades, bring yourself up to speed,
and start picking it up monthly.
You should also check out BKV’s other work. A particular
favorite of mine right now is Marvel’s Runaways v.2 (Season
2, whatever).
