Plot: A troubled NYPD officer is forced to take a happy, but
down-on-his-luck witness 16 blocks from the police station
to 100 Centre Street, although no one wants the duo to make
it.
Review: I really looked forward to seeing this film, due
largely to Richard Donner directing. I love the Lethal
Weapon series and hoped that this was him returning to that
formula. I also like Bruce Willis and saw a possible return
to the Die Hard style action films. I was wrong on both
accounts. Let me say first, this isn't a bad movie, but not
the movie it could have been.
Mos Def gave a good performance, but after awhile I found
myself annoyed with his voice. Bruce Willis reminded me of
the down and out cop he played in The Last Boy Scout, but
not as cool. The storyline was interesting, but very slow at
times. Once the action starts it feels like your fixing to
be taken on a non-stop wild ride, but you never really get
there. There is some interesting twists in the story and
some decent action, but overall I was disappointed in the
film. Not because it was a bad movie, just not the movie I
envisioned after seeing the trailers.
