An
American Haunting (2006)
Rachel Hurd-Wood
James D'Arcy
Sissy Spacek
Donald Sutherland
Directed by Courtney Solomon
Plot: Based on true events that took place in
Tennessee during the 1800s, where an unrelenting demon
haunts and torments a teenage girl and her wealthy family.
It is based on the alleged only documented true case in U.S.
history of a spirit causing a person's death.
Review: I love horror films, but not a big fan of
ghost or haunted house storylines. Not because of being
afraid of them, but because most of the time the movies just
aren't any good. I knew nothing about this movie, but
decided to give it a chance anyway.
Unfortunately, this film falls right along in the category
of another ghost film that is a waste of time. The movie is
horrible, but it was somewhat boring. The performances were
ok, but nothing special. The only decent part to this film
is the haunting scenes and even those were sometimes just
silly and made no sense. One of the biggest issues with this
movies was the beginning and ending. It sets itself up as a
narrative and then does nothing. These two scenes just
didn't need to be there. Overall I was mostly bored with
this film and don't recommend it.
