Directed by Uwe Boll
Plot:
Based on the popular video game, Bloodrayne, the film
follows Rayne, a half human half vampire woman, who posses
superhuman strength, a lust for blood, and a soft spot for
humans. She is on a journey to stop her father, vampire lord
Kagan from collecting 3 talismans that will send the earth
into darkness and vampires into power.
Review: Here is a movie that had some decent trailers and a
good cast. The game, basically a female blade, is pretty
cool and has a decent premise. So to look at everything
leading into this movie, you would think there is nothing to
worry about. Then comes director Uwe Boll. I am not saying
that directing was the only thing wrong with this movie, but
I think it was a big portion of it. I am not sure what Mr.
Boll's obsession with video games to film is, but after
House of the Dead and Alone in the Dark, you would think he
would give up.
Although not as bad as House of the Dead, but not as good as
Alone in the Dark, Bloodrayne does have some redeeming
qualities, just no enough to save the film. Kristanna Loken
looks good and does a decent acting job, with what she has
to work with. The gore sequences for the most part are
pretty cool and fun to watch, but are few and far between.
The fighting sequences seem rushed and unrehearsed. No one
ever really seems convincing that they know how to fight.
The rest of the cast is just bad. None of them are very
believable with the exception of maybe Billy Zane (who is
hardly in the film), and the acting is just bad. You would
think that with a cast of Michael Madsen (Kill Bill), Ben
Kingsley (Ghandi), Michelle Rodriguez (TV's Lost), & Billy
Zane (Titanic) would be able to make something happen,
unfortunately that is not the case. The movie is slow, bad
edited, bad acted, and allow around just bad.
