David Keith
Directed by Erik MacArthur
Plot: The hottest bartender in the Midwest, Owen
Peadman (Jason Mewes, CLERKS I and II), heads out to a
Hollywood bartending contest, confident that he'll win the
cash prize. Disappointed when he loses to a hotshot local,
Owen turns to his wacky uncle to help him get a job with a
local tabloid, where Owen tries to win favor via a story on
the hottest new star, Hayden Field (Brian Hallisay). In the
process, however, Owen befriends Hayden's girlfriend, Lisa
Mancini (Paris Hilton), and falls in love while enjoying the
trappings of fame and fortune.
Review: To be honest I am not a big Paris Hilton fan.
I find her hot and like looking at her, but that's really
where it stops. It actually gets on my nerves that she is
pretty much famous for nothing. Jason Mewes on the other
hand I love. I don't think he's hot, but I do love him. I am
a huge Kevin Smith fan, so when I saw Mewes in a new movie I
jumped at the chance to see it.
The movie is nothing special and isn't a great film, but
it's not a really bad one either. Paris Hilton was better
than I expected, but still doesn't have a bright acting
future, at least not due to her acting ability. Jason Mewes
on the other hand was really good. I was worried seeing him
out of the 'Jay' role, but was glad to see it. He doesn't
give any kind of Oscar worthy performance, but he was really
good. His character actually has some range, but kept a
little of the stoner Jay we all love. My favorite part of
this film was David Keith. His gay character steals every
scene he is in and it's almost all of them. Even Kevin Smith
shows up with a couple of cameos. The movie was decent, but
not a must see. I think Kevin Smith/Jay Mewes fans will
probably enjoy it, everyone else it could be a hit or a
miss.
