Plot: Lightning McQueen, a hotshot rookie race car
driven to succeed, discovers that life is about the journey,
not the finish line, when he finds himself unexpectedly
detoured in the sleepy Route 66 town of Radiator Springs. On
route across the country to the big Piston Cup Championship
in California to compete against two seasoned pros, McQueen
gets to know the town's offbeat characters--including Sally,
a snazzy 2002 Porsche, Doc Hudson, a 1951 Hudson Hornet with
a mysterious past, and Mater, a rusty but trusty tow truck,
who help him realize that there are more important things
than trophies, fame and sponsorship.
Review: I think that Pixar does some of, if not the
best, animated films out there. The stories are always good
and the animation is top notch. After seeing The
Incredibles I was convinced that Pixar could not top
themselves.
I really liked this movie. I didn’t think it was better than
The Incredibles, but definitely one of Pixar’s best.
The story is nothing special, but it is executed extremely
well. The voice acting is some of the best in some time. I
found the world this story took place in to be very
original. There have been ‘talking car’ films before, but
never one that included the entire world. It’s as though
people never existed and it just added to the story.
Everyone gave great performances, but there are a few that
stood out to me. Michael Keaton came off great and I thought
was one of the best non-major characters in the film. The
scene stealer came in the form of Larry the Cable Guy. I am
a fan of his and even liked his bad movie, but never
expected this. You can tell he is genuinely having a good
time with his character, and it comes through in his
performance. I hope to see more voice over work from him in
the future. John Ratzenberger, who appears in every Pixar
film, has a great sequence at the end that to me is worth
the whole movie. I highly recommend this movie for everyone.
