Plot:
The story of hopeless romantic Julia Jones, who has finally
met the man of her dreams, the very British Grant
Fonckyerdoder. But before they can have their Big Fat Greek
Wedding, they'll have to Meet the Parents, hook-up with The
Wedding Planner, and contend with Grant's friend Andy - a
spectacularly beautiful woman who wants to put an end to her
Best Friend's Wedding.
Review: Finally, in the tradition of Airplane, The
Naked Gun, & Scary Movie, comes a spoof that is actually
funny. I love stupid movies, but it seems over the years,
they have just started pushing them out without trying to
really be funny. Date Movie is not one of those movies. The
film is funny, enjoyable, and has an actual story. The best
part about watching these kinds of films is trying to figure
out which film they are spoofing and seeing how it fits
together with the story. Everything in Date Movie just works
well, including the characters.
I love American Pie and was a moderate Buffy the Vampire
Slayer fan, which made it more enjoyable to see Alyson
Hannigan in her first leading role. She makes fun of herself
and has a true comedic timing. The rest of the characters in
the film seem to play off each other nicely. I love to see
comedies where actors do something you wouldn’t expect them
too. In this one, it’s Eddie Griffin. Without spoiling
anything, there is a great gross moment with Eddie Griffin
and Fred Willard that is just classic. For every one out
there who loves just brainless, doodie filled comedy this is
for you.
