Plot: EVERYBODY LOVES RAYMOND star Ray Romano takes a
lead role alongside Kevin James (THE KING OF QUEENS) in this
comic buddy movie. Playing two meat salesmen, Romano and
James's characters fall into a little bother and end up
having to make a big sale quick before they end up in the
same state as the goods they're peddling. Juliette Lewis and
Burt Reynolds make brief appearances.
Review: I admit that I was not on the King of Queens
or Everybody Loves Raymond band wagon. In fact, I never saw
a single episode of these shows until they went into
syndication. Since, I have found Kevin James and Ray Romano
to be pretty funny guys. I have never heard of this movie,
so I knew nothing about it. This week there wasn’t much out,
so I figured why not.
The movie is a dark comedy with a somewhat generic
storyline. Surprisingly the film is pretty entertaining.
Kevin James and Ray Romano are good friends in real life and
it shows on film. They play off each other very well and
somewhat remind me of Gene Wilder and Richard Pryor. (not as
good, but close) Their characters are different than
anything I have seen them do before and it was a nice
change. The supporting characters were entertaining and did
a decent job keeping the story moving. I was unexpectedly
pleased with this film and glad I took the chance. The film
is by no means great, but it is an entertaining film.
