(2006)
Luke Wilson
Dax Shepard

Directed by Mike Judge
Plot: An average guy volunteers to be the subject of
a hibernation experiment that goes awry. He wakes up 500
years in the future, discovering that he’s the smartest guy
on the planet.
Review: I love Office Space, King of the Hill,
and Beavis & Butthead. I think Mike Judge is a comic genius who
hasn’t had the chance to really shine outside of the
animated world. This movie had been in the works for some
time. I heard they had filmed it, but never saw it released,
so when I found out it came straight to DVD I was a little
worried.
The movie is just stupid and totally ridiculous. Everything
about this movie is just plain dumb. That being said, the
movie is called Idiocracy, so what the hell do you expect.
Is the movie great? No, but it is funny. This is no Office
Space, but it has some really funny moments. Luke Wilson is
perfectly cast here and carries the film nicely. The premise
and story is silly, but work. I surprisingly enjoyed the
stupidity of this movie. What makes this movie work isn’t so
much the story or the acting. It’s the silly future that
Mike Judge has created. It really adds to the film and makes
it a world all of us can see coming. If you liked any of
Mike Judge’s other stuff check it out.
