Review: I saw the trailer for this film and thought it
looked interesting, but never really knew the point. After
reading some of the hype surrounding it on the internet I
decided to give it a try. I have to say I made a good
choice.
This movie is very clever and original. Not due to the
story, but to the way the film is shot and laid out. There
is a narrator who is talking to you like an audience, not
like someone just telling a story. Ever since I saw Chaplin,
I thought Robert Downey Jr. was a brilliant actor, but
couldn’t get into that right film or beat his personal
demons. Alongside Val Kilmer, Downey Jr. shines. Their
dialogue plays off each other perfectly. The shining part to
this film is the exchanges these men have, it is brilliant.
The story is creative, with some good plot twists and
interesting characters. I highly recommend this film and
hope this is a stepping-stone to get Robert Downey Jr. back
on the big screen more often.
