Plot: An unstoppable force of nature, southern
matriarch Madea may have finally taken on more than she can
chew. She has just been court ordered to be in charge of
Nikki, a rebellious runaway, her nieces Lisa and Vanessa are
suffering relationship trouble, and through it all she has
to organize her family reunion. As the reunion approaches,
secrets are revealed and tensions rise. Madea must use every
tactic in her arsenal to not only keep the peace, but keep
her family together.
Review: I knew nothing about Tyler Perry or his first
film Diary of a Mad Black Woman when it came out. I waited
until it came out to rent and broke down and watched it
probably 3 months after it came out. I completely enjoyed it
and kicked myself for not watching it sooner. Due to this, I
was really looking forward to Madea’s family reunion, but
wanted to stay relaxed so not to be disappointed, since most
sequels don’t live up the their predecessors. Luckily, this
one does.
Tyler Perry returns in full force with the character that
made him famous. This film was heart felt and funny all
rolled together. The story was entertaining and emotional. I
really liked the way Tyler Perry address a very serious
issue with comedy, but never made a mockery of the issues.
All the elements that made the first film great was here,
without just redoing the first film. This film is a little
more serious than the first, but just as entertaining. I
truly believe Tyler Perry is a great actor and an even
better director. I would be interested in seeing him make a
different kind of film, but hope he doesn’t leave this
franchise behind. I know he has a lot more productions he
has written and hope to see them all come to life.
