Stan
Lee Presents: Mosaic (2006)
Anna Paquin
Kirby Morrow
Directed by Roy Allen Smith
Plot: From the mind of Stan Lee comes MOSAIC, an
animated action film in the tradition of X-Men and
Spider-Man. The combination of an electrical storm and a
strange rune gives a young actress (the voice of Anna Paquin)
chameleon-like abilities. In addition to using her new
powers to save the world from a crazed villain, she has to
find the time to study for exams.
Review: Stan Lee is an over the top icon. When I
think of him I consider him an icon, but when I see him I
think of a homeless man stuck in the 70’s. Luckily Mr. Lee
sticks to what he knows and that is superheroes. Mosaic is
the first in a series of straight to DVD animated superhero
films to come from the mind of Stan Lee and his POW
Entertainment. The characters are ok and the animation is
decent, but the story is a little weak. The film starts kind
of slow, but does pick up some later in the story. The
animation style is new, but still has that classic cartoon
feel to it and I think that is the only way a Stan Lee
character can work. This was a decent animated hero film,
but I hope they get better. I think that the more they put
out the better they will get and a whole new group of iconic
characters will come alive for the next generation.
